V.M. Villalobos, M.D.

Dr. Victor Villalobos was born in San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, Mexico.At the age of 9 he moved to El Paso, TX with his family as his father had been offered a job in El Paso.  He went on to graduate at the top of his class from Riverside High School in 1974.

He further pursued his education at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) by obtaining a Bachelor’s and Masters of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry.  Once completed, he continued his educational journey to San Antonio, TX where he studied medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

After receiving his Medical degree, he moved to Odessa, TX where he did his residency in Family Practice at Texas Tech Regional Academic Health Science Center in the Permian Basin.  During this time he moonlighted at a local urgent care center.

Once finished with his residency, he had to fulfil a scholarship obligation by working in a rural area.  He opted to work in Plainview, TX for the local community center – South Plains Health Center.  After a couple of years, he was asked to become the Medical Director.

In 1991 he decided to return home to El Paso where he has been ever since.  Upon his return - he worked for Beaumont Army Medical Center and the Student Health Center at UTEP – while he developed his private practice clinic. In 1993 he had the opportunity to open his second family practice location.  In 1998 and 2008, respectively he opened his third and fourth locations.  Ultimately, forming Mt. West Family Health Center.

Currently Mt. West Family Health Center has 4 family practice locations, an after-hours clinic, sleep center and med spa.

Dr. Villalobos became a physician to help people.  In 2007, Dr. Villalobos he was able to accomplish his dream by establishing the Adventist Family Clinic for people without insurance and in need of healthcare.  There is no charge to patients who visit this center and it is a non-profit facility that provides both medical and social care by offering counseling, food, shelter, and clothing for those in need.  The Adventist Family Clinic has a sister clinic in Juarez, Mexico across the border where the same services are provided.

Dr. Villalobos’s passion lies in preventive medicine.  His offices are the leaders in providing preventive medical care to patients.  He has created endless protocols for his medical providers so that all the care that is offered is streamlined and healthcare goals for patients are met.

The primary objective of Mt. West Family Health Center is to keep patients healthy and out of the hospital.  In a community like El Paso, where diabetes and hypertension are prevalent, Dr. Villalobos has made it his mission to help people live a healthier lifestyle through proper healthcare and dietary changes.  In 2013, he introduced his weight loss program to help patients struggling with weight loss.
